Every since I lifted my JK 4" and put on 35s my ESP has a tendency to engage on its own at times when it's not necessary - - even after I've supposedly turned it off with the dash switch. Anyone have any ideas why and if the ESP can be permanently disengaged?

Bad alignment or even the steering geometry on your lift can cause ESP issues.

The computer checks "steering angle" against roll and other direction sensors. If they do not match it turns on the ESP.

So a poorly set up lift can cause premature ESP issues with inconsistent steering angles or lots of body roll.

No, no, and anotehr no

Alignment is good, lift kit is good, tire pressure is good. Only thing I can think of is that it may need re-programming. Anyone have a clue as to what I need to do that?:jeep2:

At least an AEV Procal or similar type device.

I had a 3.5" RK kit on initially with their standard steering setup. It would trigger the ESP from time to time(not a lot but sometimes prematurely). The AEV kit I currently have on does not trigger it at all prematurely. I think the main difference is the change in the front high steer and maybe rear roll center set up.

I think there was a slight steering ratio problem between what the computer wanted to see and what the stock steering with adjustable track bar was providing.

aev procal will also let you know where the PCM thinks a centered steering wheel is. this has been shown to be off even if your think it is centered.

I think there are some reasons to find the right wire and deactivate the ESP completely when on entrance/exit ramp type curves, twisting roads in the mountains etc.

I'm on 40's and have a full program with the superchips flashpaq, changing gears, tire size, etc, and the ESP still grabs me in the rear on those curves. :shaking:

Steering wheel is dead on.... I believe. I don't get the ESP on everyday stuff except as above, so I think I need the little switch. If I can just find that thread......
